Ban, Thomas A.

Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Thomas Ban was born in Hungary and received his medical degree from Semmelweis University. He emigrated to Canada before the Second World War and worked with Heinz Lehmann at the Douglas State Hospital in Montreal. He was one of the early members of the Early Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit (ECDEU) funded by the National Institute of Mental Health in 1959. He has published more than 200 books and articles, including many discussing the history of antipsychotic drugs, the ACNP, the CINP, and the field of neuropsychopharmacology, and is the originator and director of the ACNP Oral History Project. Currently Dr. Ban lives in Toronto.
