Biographical Sketch:
A graduate of Cornell University, Alfred M. Freedman received his M.D. from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1942 and his postgraduate education at the William Alanson White Institute for Psychoanalysis. From 1950 to 1960 he held faculty appointments in psychiatry at New York University College of Medicine and the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center.
In 1975, he was appointed Vice President for Special Education Programs at New York Medical College.
He is a diplomate of both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the National Board of Medical Examiners, and is a member of the board of directors of the former. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Freedman is a member of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis.
