Biographical Sketch:
Dr. David J. Kupfer acts as the Thomas Detre Professor and Chair in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also director of research at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic where he oversees investigations for the department’s 200-member faculty.
Dr. Kupfer received both his bachelor’s degree and his MD from Yale University. He continued on to do postgraduate clinical and research training at the Yale New Haven Hospital and at the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Kupfer joined the faculty here at the University in 1973.
Past research studies have concentrated on sleep disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, depression, and insomnia.
