Biographical Sketch:  Larry Stein’s pioneering work was on the neurochemical mechanisms of reward.  Born in New York City in 1931, he received his BA from NYU and a PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Iowa in 1955.  Following two postdoctoral years with Joseph Brady as an Army researcher at Walter Reed, he became head of psychopharmacology at Wyeth Labs in Radnor, Pennsylvania, in 1957.  In 1979, he became Professor and Chair of Pharmacology at the University of California Irvine.  Larry Stein died on May 30, 2019, in Newport Beach, California.
