Sulser, Fridolin

Biographical Sketch:
Professor of Psychiatry, Emeritus and Professor of Pharmacology, Emeritus

Fridolin Sulser received a M.D. from the University of Basel in 1955. He came to Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine in 1965 as a professor of pharmacology and was appointed a professor of psychiatry in 1986.

His research has generated new heuristic concepts on the molecular psychopathology of affective disorders.

Sulser has served in various administrative positions at the Tennessee Neuropsychiatric Institute, including director of research and director. He served as president of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology from 1979 to 1980. His scientific contributions have been honored with the international Anna Monika Foundation Award and the Gold Medal Award from the Society of Biological Psychiatry.
