Chouinard, Guy

Biographical Sketch:
Guy Chouinard received his MD from the Université de Montréal, did his Psychiatry Residency at McGill University, and earned his M.Sc. in pharmacology at the Université de Montréal.
His main interests are linked to the treatment of schizophrenic and bipolar psychosis. His work on these two psychiatric conditions has significantly contributed to identify, prevent and treat the extrapyramidal symptoms induced by the neuroleptics. His research has also helped to develop new therapeutic approaches.

Dr. Chouinard has also contributed to the introduction of atypical neuroleptics. His work has facilitated the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder by providing a better comprehension of the neurophysiology of these conditions.
