Goldstein, Burton

Biographical Sketch:
Burton Goldstein, M.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry, Pharmacology & Epidemiology at the School of Medicine, University of Miami. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital Center. Upon completion of his residency training he joined the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine. Doctor Goldstein was Interim Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences between 1983 and 1986.

He is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and has been an examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. Currently Doctor Goldstein is the Senior Consultant and Senior Peer reviewer for the University of Miami Managed Behavioral Health System (UMBH).

UMBH is a full service managed behavioral health organization offering services to over 300,000 enrollees in several counties in south Florida with an annual budget of fifty million dollars. His duties include the supervision of both current and retrospective review of acute psychiatric in patient hospitalization, adjudication of denials of hospitalization, consultative services to mental health providers and psychopharmacologic consultation.
